Finishing Well

There are just two months left in our 2009-2010 ministry year (ending August 31). We’ve had a great year serving God so far. Let’s make sure we finish well.

Here are some ways to do that.

  • Enjoy the vacations and summer holidays available to you this summer. They are gifts of God given for our pleasure and replenishing, so thank God for them and make the most of them.

  • Serve as a ministry substitute when others in our church family are away on their summer vacations. Offer to fill a gap on a shorthanded ministry team or volunteer to assist whenever you notice an obvious unmet need.

  • Receive the teaching and strengthening that God has prepared for you this summer. One important way to do that: “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another” (Hebrews 10:25). God ministers to us through His church, so stay consistent in worship and fellowship with God’s family during these beautiful summer months.

  • Give generously to honor God and support His work through Northwest Hills. Our ministry is local and global, touches all age groups, and is constantly active. Consistent financial support is necessary to keep it functioning at full strength, so let’s avoid the summer giving slump that many congregations suffer, and also do whatever we are able to make up for overall contributions that were lower than usual earlier this year (our latest Ministry Fund Report is on page 3).

  • Rest in Jesus’ assurance that “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26). Believe in His promises that He is always with us, that He empowers us to serve Him, and that He will meet our every need as long as we put Him first.

Let’s keep dreaming big dreams for God’s work, and saturate the world with servants of Jesus Christ!
