The Timothy Project is administered by CLIDE Consultancy and Dr. Valery Shean, in partnership with churches in Oregon. The purpose of the project is to increase educational opportunities for disadvantaged, yet spiritually growing young Christians, so that they can mature as strong Christian leaders in their communities.
This ministry supports students in Karamoja and Teso, Uganda. Needy students who have demonstrated great spiritual and intellectual potential are given assistance to pay for their school fees, school supplies, and room and board at school. Most of them are street kids, orphans, pastors’ children or disadvantaged youth.
Gifts are given in the form of sponsorships and are based on merit as well as need. Needy students apply for assistance by submitting an essay explaining their need and family situation, as well as their grade reports and recommendations from their pastor and the principal of their school. They are encouraged to be in the top 10% of their class, have personally received Jesus Christ as their Savior, and have an interest in serving the Lord through their future profession. Students with the highest potential are selected after completing a personal interview and an assessment of their spiritual life and educational goals.
There are some wonderful students in the Timothy Project with great potential to rise above their circumstances and shine for the Lord.
Sponsor a Child
The costs for schooling vary according to the education level and the institution:
- Grade School (P1-P4)
- Middle School (P5-P7)
- High School (S1-S6)
- Trade School
These costs include room and board for the student as well as notebooks, pens, medical fees, school uniforms, and bedding. Discipleship opportunities for the children are provided as well as counseling and extra-curricular activities.
Payment in one annual installment will reduce administrative work, but quarterly or monthly payments are accepted. An automatic giving plan can be arranged with Northwest Hills. Partial or group sponsorship is available.
Send a completed Timothy Project Sponsorship Form to:
Northwest Hills Community Church
3300 NW Walnut Blvd
Corvallis OR 97330
Once a sponsorship form is received, the Timothy Project Coordinator will contact you with information about students available for sponsorship and payment details.
During school breaks, Timothy Project students have the opportunity to attend spiritual retreats. Every fall, Northwest Hills sends a team to encourage and assist our missionaries Dr. Moses and Christine Otim as they host the Timothy Retreat for 170 orphans and disadvantaged children. This five-day retreat provides meals, health checkups, Bible teaching, crafts and games, and a gift bag of fun as well as essential items. The mission team also spreads lots of love and encourages the students to keep pursuing their education.
The team will also participate in a Goat Distribution. Anywhere from 50-70 goats are given to widows and orphans as a loan. Once the goat has its first kid, that kid is given to another person in need. The original goat is then owned by the orphan/widow to provide income for them from milk and any future kids. This program has been very successful in providing a means of survival for the widows and orphans.
