Mr. L and Mrs. L desire to see God glorified among unreached Muslim people groups and the spread of the gospel radically transform individuals and entire communities into followers of Christ. Their heart is to live life with their neighbors, coworkers, and friends and seek opportunity to share Christ’s love in word and deed. They pray that many would seek, seekers would find, and the study of the Holy Scriptures would change lives.
Twenty-three and a half percent of the world’s total population are Muslim. This makes up more than 1.7 billion people, of which more than 1.5 billion belong to an unreached people group. As defined by the Joshua Project, “‘unreached’ means less than 2% Evangelical and less than 5% Christian Adherent. An unreached people is a people group among which there is no indigenous community of believing Christians with adequate numbers and resources to evangelize this people group without outside assistance.” Furthermore, there is often “little, if any history of Christianity,” a lack of knowledge and a general closed attitude. Of the global population of unreached, around 47% are Muslim.
With these statistics, it is a large task. But by the grace of God, we see His hand is at work in amazing ways throughout the Muslim world. Muslims are coming to Christ as never seen before in the history of Islam. Jesus is appearing in dreams and visions which have caused many to become intense seekers of truth. And disillusionment surrounding Islam has caused many others to turn and seek another way. God is at work, and it is time for the Church to step in and be salt and light in the Muslim world.
The Ls work with others to show godly living and community and to break down stereotypes of “Christians.” The desire is that locals would find and follow the Word of Christ and begin to live it out in contextualized fellowships and in their spheres of influence, and that the Church would multiply. Through life-on-life and strategic use of internet, they seek connections with those who are hungry. And through group prayer they are pursuing God’s heart for His Kingdom.
