Come Connect this Summer!

Summer is upon us, but life can still feel like a jungle. This summer conquer the jungle! Meet in the lobby Wednesday evenings from 7-8pm, July 11 through August 15 where there will be a devotional reading. Come when you can and receive a gold nugget of truth, bring a delectable dessert for all our refreshment, meet other women who you will meet on life's rapids, and be challenged to invest in the eternal. Feel free to invite your friends to participate in this endeavor with you. Come be equipped to conquer!

Weekly Topics

Each week we will discuss an aspect of living a victorious Christian life. Our Mission here at Northwest Hills is to love our neighbors and to learn together how to know and to live like Jesus. Each session will offer individual insights and challenges to inspire you to fight the good fight while living on mission.

  • July 18 – Finding Contentment
  • July 25 – The Power of the Word
  • August 1 – The Hope of the Gospel

Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have declared so well before many witnesses.

Meet the Facilitators

Carri Mikkelsen balances being a mom of three elementary aged kids and her passion to share the Gospel and to equip others to do the same.  She graduated from Oregon State University with a B.S. in Cultural Anthology in 2007 (study of human culture) after receiving Biblical training (A.A. Biblical Studies) from New Tribes Bible Institute.  In 2012 she and her family followed God’s leading to move to Venezuela. There she experienced a whole new world of mothering and other daily trials and unique tests of her faith. God used the years there to teach her about His amazing faithfulness as they supported a group of church planting and Bible translation teams in remote tribal locations.  Now back in Oregon as a pastor’s wife and writer ( she continues to wait upon the Lord and is excited to share this time with you to learn together how to know and to live like Jesus.

Kim Heede is married with two older kids. She loves warm, sunny weather and her favorite color is green. She is anticipating a great summer as one of her “Brazilian daughters” is coming to live with her family for at least 6 months. Her favorite song at the moment is Overcomer by Mandisa. “You might be down for a moment, feeling like it's hopeless. That’s when He reminds you that you're an overcomer.” It’s that little boost needed in the midst of a crazy life – especially at those moments of feeling overwhelmed, discouraged, or run down. God has been teaching her how to rest in Him, and how much He loves her as she is coming out of a period of recovering from utter exhaustion – spiritually, emotionally, and physically. She is excited to help lead this Summer's Women's Connect, for a more “structured” venue for time in the Word and fellowship with others, and to see what God will teach her from the other women and His Word!

Patty Ollerenshaw, married 23 years, has two daughters, Lindsay (22) who just graduated from University of Pugent Sound, and has moved down to the Bay Area to work in a medical research lab and Lauren (17) who will be a senior at CV next fall.  Her favorite verse is Psalms 46:10, “Be still and Know that I am God: I will Be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the Earth.” God has been teaching her to be still and depend on Him in all of life’s hills and valleys!  She has a passion to see other women learn to handle the Word rightly. During this Women’s Summer Connect she is eager to connect with other women, encourage and be encouraged, and be inspired from the stories of these missionaries who go into the jungle to teach the Good News to the tribes!

Wendy Evans is an active mother of three growing boys who are full of life. This past year she job shared at a local elementary school. On top of being in the class room, Wendy coordinated the town-wide box collection of Operation Christmas Child and also led Bible studies and discipled middle schoolers here at Northwest Hills this past year. She is passionate about giving others the space to grow in their relationship with Christ. She looks forward to seeing women form stronger relationships, grow in the Word, and be challenged to use what they are learning to impact others to live out Christ’s life.
