What to Expect for Your Kids

We offer Sunday programs for kids from birth through 5th grade during each of our morning services at 8:00 AM, 9:30 AM, and 11:00 AM. If your child is 6th-12th grade, you can check out our youth program here.

Your child will experience age-appropriate teaching and activities designed to help them grow in their understanding of the Bible and who Jesus is. Our curriculum walks preschool and elementary kids through the big story of God’s plan for salvation, connecting Old Testament stories and New Testament teachings in a way that points back to Jesus every time.

In every classroom—from the nursery to 5th grade—our caring, background-checked teachers are dedicated to creating a safe, loving environment where kids feel seen, valued, and encouraged in their faith. Our goal is for every child to leave knowing they are loved by Jesus and excited to learn more about Him!

CHECK IN AND PICK UP

  • We’ve Got You Covered!
Welcome to NWH! If it’s your first time visiting, head first to the courtyard check-in station (see pictures/maps on this page to see where to go).

One of our volunteers will be there to greet you and guide you through getting your kids checked in quickly and easily. They’ll make sure your child gets to the right classroom so you can enjoy the service with peace of mind.

  • Nursery and preschool kids check in stations are right outside their classrooms in the A and B wings, located on either side of the lobby. When you arrive at the check-in station:

    • You’ll receive a name label for your child and another for our check-in sheet.

    • You’ll also be given a barcode ticket, which you’ll need to show at pick-up to match you with your child.

Please drop off and pick up your child at their classroom door to ensure a smooth transition.

  • All kids this age will check in at the courtyard station.

You’ll receive a name label for your child that they will turn in when they are picked up.

    • You will also receive a barcode ticket that matches their name label, which you will show when you pick your child up.

Parents, we kindly ask that you walk your child to their assigned classroom and pick them up afterward to keep everyone safe and accounted for.

  • As soon as service ends, please head straight to your child’s classroom for pick-up before stopping to chat. This helps our teachers clean up and head out on time. We appreciate your help in making the process easy for everyone!

  • At Northwest Hills Community Church, your child’s health is a priority. If your little one is feeling unwell—has a fever, cough, or any contagious illness—we kindly ask that they rest at home. Kids are welcome to return to classes once they are symptom-free for 24 hours.  Our volunteers also follow this guideline to ensure a healthy environment for everyone. If a child becomes ill during class, we will promptly contact a parent or guardian to pick them up and will take steps to sanitize classrooms as needed. Thank you for helping us create a clean and welcoming space for all families!

  • There are always so many ways to serve with NWH Kids including teaching, assisting in classrooms, helping with check-in, and more!

All volunteers are asked to fill out our children's ministry application and complete a background check.

  • Outside our auditorium, we have a designated “Family Room”—a comfortable space for mothers who need to nurse or soothe a fussy baby. You can see the map for the location of this room.

  • Accidents happen, and we’re prepared. If your child has a minor injury while in our care, they will receive basic first aid (ice pack, bandaids, rest, etc.), and we will inform you at pick-up and have you sign an incident report so you fully know what happened. For any injury requiring more than basic care, we will contact you immediately. In the event of a serious emergency, we will call 911 and ensure your child receives prompt medical attention while keeping you informed every step of the way. There are copies of emergency protocols in each classroom space and you are welcome to take a look at them anytime.

Guardians of children under 2yrs receive a buzzer so we can contact you in service if needed.
